Shootingflame looked at the small apprentice. When she asked her question she couldn't help but feel rather annoyed. Yes his clan was filled with she-cats just as he had wanted, but rather annoying ones at that."Like Rainstar said, Im searching for a rock, that could easily be replaced by another." He lowered his muzzle so it was barely away from the apprentices ear."Have you given her a few to many poppy seeds? I've never seen a leader flip out over a missing pebble...."

Rainstar glowered as she turned back around. "Enough chit-chat Shootingflame! Gossiping like a couple of elders all day won't find you that rock." She narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. "As I have already mentioned, I want it back in that spot by Sunhigh!" She paused thoughtfully, and gave Lullabypaw a quick side-ways glance. "And you can help him too. Then you both will have plenty of time to socialize." She sat down and gave them both a hard stare, daring them to argue with her for about a second before turning to look around the camp. Now where is Fawnspots? She thought to herself, narrowing her eyes.

Lullabypaw flicked her tail softly, signaling the deputy to follow her. She still didn't know the Night Forest that well, but her knowledge would have to do. When she thought they were out of Rainstar's earshot, she said "I found a rock like the one you two are looking for." Suddenly, she looked sheepish. "I, er, thought it wasn't important, so I, um, threw it, uh, in a bush."

Shootingflame looked at her. This whole incident could have been prevented. His ears grew hot, not with embaressment but with anger."In case you haven't noticed, Rainstar is going crazy over a small rock, that goes into a wall, near her den, that protects our camp. You took that rock...and through it in a bush. I don't care if your a medicine cat apprentice you are going to do a regular apprentice chore and get that rock." He mewed harshly.

Seekingpaw was walking back with a mouse in his jaws, his sleek black fur blending in with the shadows. He dropped his prize in the fresh-kill pile and sighed, satisfied with himself.
His ears pricked and quivered when he heard scolding, and though at first he was jumped a little by it- his whole posture had frozen stiff at the sudden voice- he eventually grew curious.
The apprentice walked quietly over to the noises and slowed to a stop when he recognized two cats. Lullabypaw, Fawnspots' apprentice, was being scolded by Shootingflame. The deputy seemed to be upset, and dissappointed.
The fact that Shootingflame was angry made Seekingpaw knead the moist earth with his paws nervously. He backed away a few steps, turning to see if there was anyone who might need him. At the moment he wasn't ready to cross paths with an angry adult.

The tom shifted his gaze over."Yes Lullabypaw you can fetch the rock, and Seekingpaw can help you." He lifted his head so he was at full height. His green eyes burned into the apprentices."I will monitor you so I know you will do what I tell you to do. I don't even care if it's the same rock. As long as it fits, and as long as it looks we all found it. Is that understood?" His black pelt flattened as his temper slowly began to fade. His unusual orange markings stood out against the dark forest. He started moving forward and beckoned for the two apprentices to follow.

As Lullabypaw followed Shootingflame, she tilted her head to one side in confusion. Her deputy was asking her to lie? Oh well. It was probably better to tell a little white lie than to face the fury of her leader. She also wondered how she was going to find such a small stone in such a dark forest. Barely any sunlight was shining through to the ground at this time; Lullabypaw navigated mainly by scent.
Hopefully her mentor would know where she was, and that she wasn't needed in the medicine cat den at the moment. She hated angering anybody, even if they tried not to be mad.
Oh dear, this is going to take a long time, Lullabypaw thought to herself as she looked around at the giant bushes surrounding her. This was going to be a trouble.

Shootingflame turned, giving a brief glance at Seekingpaw. "Yes Lullabypaw you can fetch the rock," he continued, "and Seekingpaw can help you."
Seekingpaw blinked. A rock? They were trying to find a rock? What for?
Shootingflame lifted his head, focusing his stern gaze into Lullabypaw's. "I will monitor you so I know you will do what I tell you to do. I don't even care if it's the same rock. As long as it fits, and as long as it looks we all found it. Is that understood?" Having made his point, the deputy's temper seemed to simmer down. He then turned, moving forward and beckoning for Seekingpaw and Lullabypaw to follow him.
Lullabypaw tipped her head to one side, a little confused, before resigning to orders and padding after the tom.
Seekingpaw trotted over, his head lowered to the ground. "I-I'm coming." He felt shy being around the deputy, but he also felt a need to impress him. It would do well for such a recent apprentice.

"To fill you in, Rainstar is very upset this morning. The warriors are being lazy, and her rock is missing. This rock, went missing. She saw that this rock was missing and sent me to find it. However, since Lullabypaw seemed to have thrown it into a bush, she and I were going to find it. But now that you have came along, why not have you join us." He nodded curtly before stepping in front. His eyes had already adjusted. He scanned looking for any bush that looked rather poofy."Search every bush you see."

Seekingpaw did his best to hide a snicker. His leader was angry about a missing stone?
Ok, this might be easy, after all. There were plenty of rocks and stones in the forest. He crept along the forest floor, sniffing at the bushes and bending down occasionally to paw at the bottom. Most of what he scooped out were festering insects and lizards who had taken cover in the leaves, but he was determined to give all he had in the task.
