PRAYERWHISPER Hush now, I wont hurt you.....
Lifting a fore paw, she placed it gently down into the water. The cooling sensations were relaxing even though the liquid chilled her. Her nose touched the water next, making a small ripple explode and go into all directions. She was alert, aware of her surroundings. She had never been here before, and she wasn't sure if this area was safe.
Her name, was Prayerwhisper. She had been a warrior for a long time, and not once has she been into the nursery to have her own kits like a warrioress would. She was solitude, keeping to herself was what she did. It's not like she didn't make eye contact, she just didn't speak. She was a mysterious cat. She appeared at the most random moments and vanished just as quick. Most of the time she rested in the garden of branches that blocked out any view of the sky. She found that she was most comfortable alone, mateless, and loveless.
This dawn, was the day that she turned 34 stars. She had been given no apprentice to train. Probably because she refused to talk. Her eyes opened, and it was a blast of Lime green. In her clan, she was an illusion that would never be seen by anyone. She would never be heard either. There was so much that she wanted to share, yet, she could not say a word.......

Blackenedfoot scaled his way carefully across the branch, the ground beneath him seeming to fly in the opposite direction as he walked along the length of the branch and kept his amber eyes firmly on his paws. He tried not to look at the ground below, and how far down it was. Blackenedfoot wasn't afraid of the canopy, no, but haunts from when he was an apprentice caught up to him now and then, and the slight pain in his paw that forced him to limp when he walked reminded him forever of when he had fallen from the forest canopy. The odds of that happening to him now were fairly slim; he was stronger, more agile, and could keep his balance on the windiest branch, but the idea was still there, lurking in the back of his mind.
The branch slowly grew thinner and thinner, then ended at a point that had a collection of leaves growing at the very tip, swaying in the wind and glistening in the faint sunlight that spiraled through the leaves above. Blackenedfoot stopped as the branch began to sway beneath his weight, then took a seat at the begining of a fork in the branches, exhaling as he sat. He held his white fore-paw in front of him, off to one side to avoid putting pressure on it. It was throbbing again, as it did when Blackenedfoot over did it. He would have to stop and rest for a while.
Blackenedfoot swept his amber gaze on the forest floor far below. He could hear the tricklings of a stream rushing past in the undergrowth below, although he couldn't see it or what lay beside it because of the branches that lined the trunk of the Moon Tree far below.

PRAYERWHISPER Hush now.... I wont hurt you.....
She took in a sudden breath, she lifted up the paw that had been gently resting on a gray stone in the bottom of the lake in the shallow area. She held her breath listening, looking. Someone had followed her? She raised her gaze to the trees, but saw nothing. The large green leaves blocked her view. She lowered herself to the ground scanning every inch making sure she was not surprised.
Most cats would have parted their jaws and called out to someone who had been following them.Prayerwhisper would not. She would not say away. Silence was not a burden. No, not to her. Silence was her gift. She could hear so well. A light breeze carried and blew a few leaves around her in a mystical dance. Someone was here....
She was not the kind of cat that others would tend to follow. In fact she was the mysterious one. Vanishing at well like most cats thought. However it was simply that they didn't pay attention. Her lime green eyes watered with nervousness. She lowered down so the water lapped her under belly. She suddenly felt overwhelmed. A brisk chill surfed down her spine as her eyes rested on the trees......

Blackenedfoot narrowed his amber eyes as he caught a flash of white fur beneath him. His ears pricked up in curiosity. An intruder? Perhaps...usually a Clan mate would be able to detect him from so high in the trees and call out. Blackenedfoot rose to his paws, then turned and ran along the branch towards the trunk of the tree, digging his claws into the smooth silver bark then drawing himself down head first towards the ground. Whoever this cat was, Blackenedfoot would make sure they never came by here again.
He drew closer and closer to the ground, ignoring the throbbing sensation in his paw. Blackenedfoot could see the cat now; she was standing in the stream, and her back was turned to him. He felt the blood roaring in his ears as he lowered himself onto the ground. Then, with all of the strength he contained in his legs, Blackenedfoot sprang forward and a loud hiss erupted from behind his teeth, and one of his paws raised, claws unsheathed, ready to strike the cat that stood in the stream.

PRAYERWHISPER Hush now.... I wont hurt you....
Prayerwhisper heard a landing in the other direction. Her ears pricked, and knew then a cat was behind her. She whipped around, and with a startled look in her green eyes, stumbled backwards. Water splashed higher near her back, again giving her that cooling sensation, however this time it wasn't relaxing. The tom before her was much bigger than her. She was rather small.
She took in his scent, he was from MoonClan. Would he really hurt her. Prayerwhisper looked at him with soft eyes, hoping that he would lower his paw and not strike. Shaking the water from her fur, she moved forward moving one paw slowly in front of the other. Don't hurt me Blackenedfoot..." Her mind took over. Her thoughts were blasting through her head. She knew that if he attacked she would not be able to defend herself.
The she-cat pulled her ears back, her fear scent was rather overwhelming but as the wind picked up it slowly began to disperse. "I'm Prayerwhisper...I am not an intruder..." Inside, she hoped that he realized it was someone from his clan. If not, she would have to be ready to take the blow and defend....

Blackenedfoot prepared to strike, then came to a hault. He paused, a confused gleam entering his amber eyes, then shook his head to clear it. She was a MoonClan cat, not an intruder. You stupid tom! He hissed beneath his breath, allowing his claws to sink back into his paws. Blackenedfoot looked up, then slowly narrowed his eyes. He recognized the cat, although it took a moment for him to remember her name.
"Oh," he meowed, his tone not very apologetic at all. "Sorry, Prayerwhisper...I thought you were...an intruder." Blackenedfoot took a few steps back, flattening his ears. He wasn't the best at talking with other cats; he found it akward, and weird. He tried to avoid communicating with other cats, but his stupidity had forced him into it.

Her eyes narrowed to slits. She dipped her paw in the water and lifted it up quickly making water fall around like rain drops falling from the sky."Oh you better be sorry..."Her mind was angered but she said nothing. His tone sounded like he really didn't care. She took in a breath and climbed out of the lake. She shook her pelt clear of the crystal like dew drops and stared at the dying light. Soon she would be able to see the star that belonged to Nightchill. She missed him so much. If he were still here, it would be clear that she would be speaking. He was the one that made her feel at home. Perhaps his death made her silence even stronger.
She flashed the tom a smirk and swiftly turned her back. She could have just been killed. At first she wished he had, she could be with Nightchill right now in the sky, but no. He shook his thoughts clear and realized who he would have been attacking. She let out a breathless laugh realizing what she had just been thinking about. She promised her leader that she would do anything to prove that she loved her clan more than she did a dead warrior. However that promise was only understood by her.
She parted her jaws to say something to Blackenedfoot but quickly closed them. She was not sure what to say if anything at all. She probably wouldn't say anything but give him a curt nod and leave, but this time she was lost for words.

Blackenedfoot nodded slowly. "Well, then..." He muttered, turning away from the she-cat. He felt akward and embarressed, and he wanted nothing more than to be away from there. Blackenedfoot turned his back on the she-cat, then walked towards the Moon Tree that he had descended from. His paw was throbbing again, forcing him to walk with the limp that he always had to walk with. Blackenedfoot twitched his ears. He could feel Prayerwhisper's eyes boring into his fur. He couldn't wait until he was high above the trees and out of her sight.

Prayerwhisper turned around. Her jaw began to tremble. She didn't know what to do... she parted her jaws so a small O shape was visible."You just don't understand me..." She whispered. Her eyes were wide, five words stumbled out of her mouth. Her voice melodic and high pitched. She probably wouldn't say much of anything ever again. She didn't want the tom to think she hated him. That wasn't the case. She couldn't hate anyone. She sat down and wrapped her tail around her paws. Her eyes scanned the ground even though they were closed.
She waited. She waited for the harsh gasp. Yes she had spoken, however it was a whisper, so it was hardly audible. Her lime green eyes showed an emotion never seen before with her. However, she would not open or eyes, or look up to show the tom before her what that was. For the rest of her life she might stay silent, keeping in everything that she needed to let out.

Blackenedfoot heard a faint whisper from behind him. He paused, one paw against the smooth bark of the tree he readied to ascend, then narrowed his eyes coldly. "It's not just me...no one understands you," Blackenedfoot murmured after a brief pause in which he determined which words he wanted to say. "You never talk, you never communicate with anyone. It's like you're not even a part of the Clan sometimes. If you want cats to understand you, why not try and talk sometime?" He knew he was being harsh, but her words had angered him. How could he understand her if he knew nothing of her?
Blackenedfoot grunted, then pulled himself up into the tree. He relaxed slightly as he began to climb above the ground. He was much more comfortable in the trees, and hated being on the ground.

A growl started, but turned into a hiss. She turned back to the lake and brought her paw into the water."The reason to that no one will know..." She grumbled. She closed her eyes and let the water cover her. She would have gone deeper but this time wasn't the time to be with Nightchill. You had to earn the rank among the stars. You couldn't just go there. She sighed lapping the cool water and let it slide down her throat. It was her sanctuary.
Her mother was the reason. Killing her only brother before her and her sisters. One had ran away. She wouldn't be in a clan when her mother was a killer. The other two were left in a harsh silence. She was able to move on and soon gain her comfort back in the clan, but soon her mentor, the one who was going to break her silence was killed. She winced remembering his thick black fur and stunning eyes that you couldn't help but fall in love with. She wanted him back. To have that same close feeling but that would never happen again.
Her own dreams would not be fulfilled. Nightchill would not descend from the sky and touch her muzzle with her nose like he used to when he praised her. She sighed and turned her gaze to Blackenedfoot. No one knew her story, and she did not want to explain in detail as to what happened. Even her memories were dark and painful. Hurting herself by letting others know her was something she was not willing to do.

Blackenedfoot paused on the lowest branch he could find, then drew himself up and sat down heavily. He had to admit, he did feel pretty bad about what he had said to Prayerwhisper. Blackenedfoot usually wasn't as ill-tempered as that, but his own stupidity at almost attacking a cat in his own Clan had put him in a defensive mood. He sighed heavily. I suppose I should go and apologize, Blackenedfoot thought uncomfortably, rising slowly to his paws again. She wont accept it, but it's the right thing to do...
Blackenedfoot took a powerful leap from the branch he was on, landing on one on the tree across from the one he was on. He continued this until he was above where Prayerwhisper stood, overlooking the lake that shimmered and rippled in the breeze. Hesitantly, he drew himself down onto a low branch until he was only a few feet above of Prayerwhisper.
"Look..." He sighed. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be quite so harsh. I was just...angry at myself for almost attacking a cat in my own Clan. I truely am sorry, Prayerwhisper." Blackenedfoot stood there, waiting for an answer, wondering if the she-cat would hiss a remark at him or quietly accept his apology, then he could slip quietly up to the Forest Canopy and leave her be.

A twisted grin formed on her muzzle. At least the tom was trying she had to give him that much credit. She lowered her gaze to the ground for a moment. She couldn't decide whether or not she should speak or just stay silent. She knew after this day at the lake silence would be her way of life. It wasn't a burden to her, it was a gift."Apology accepted Blackenedfoot." Her voice was loud at first, but ended with a soft tone at might put a kit to sleep.
She turned around, jumping from the water. Her claws dug into the thin silvery bark as she climbed up, resting on the branch that the tom did."Care to come tree leaping with me?" Her eyes bounced with amusement as she bunch up her legs and soared to the next tree over."Who knows, maybe we will find rouges to scare off?" She shrugged and jumped into the next disappearing into the leaves.

Blackenedfoot was taken by surprise by her response. Was Prayerwhisper, the cat he had known his whole life to be as silent as a mouse, asking him to go tree leaping with her? Blackenedfoot hesitated for a slight moment, then bunched his leg muscles and sprang after Prayerwhisper. He had to admit, her smaller size made her much more agile than he, and it took him a few moments to catch up.
"I'll beat you to the top!" Blackenedfoot exclaimed once he was behind the she-cat. He stopped on a thick branch, his tail-tip twitching mischeviously, then launched himself upwards onto the branch just above him. He was better at climbing up than leaping across, thanks to his paw's injury, and he had to admit, he was rather spooked at being so close to the forest floor.

Prayerwhisper spun around. She had thought that he would be following leaping from tree to tree, however this time around he climbed up. She hissed playfully while bouncing upwards her claws caught the branch and she hoisted herself up."I'm a better leaper than climber you know!" In the distance she could see his dark fur.. she was almost there, but there was know way she would be able to beat him to the top now.
"Your lucky I was in Mid-leap when you said that or I would be ahead of you right now!" She decided to jump higher, to grab the thin branch three branches higher. Bunching up her hind legs, she jumped riding the wind and leaning back to gain hieght. With claws extended she reached out. She had misjudged. She didn't put enough power. Her claws dug into the slippery branch. She clawed the air aimlessly trying to get momentum to bring herself up. WIth a risky thought she let go and swung her body landing on a lower branch below. She sat there for a moment catching her thoughts. If she hadn't done that she probably would have fallen to her death. Shaking the thought away she continued upward attempting to catch up with the tom.
